Envco has developed a low cost monitoring buoy. This is self powered (with a 10watt solar panel) and links in to the clients telemetry network. The site it has been installed on is set up to monitor the depth profile of temperature and dissolved oxygen within a lake. An SDI-12 thermistor chain is attached beneath the buoy which measures temperature at 11 points below the lake surface to a depth of 55m. A D-Opto (Optical dissolved Oxygen sensor) measure dissolved oxygen 30m below the surface.
